I could really use some help...
For the life of me, I cannot figure out why Intel's Management Engine Driver will not install on my new build. The error it's throwing me is very vague: "Your system does not meet the minimum specifications to install this driver", or something along those lines.
Here's the basics of my build:
CPU: Intel i7-4790K
MOBO: Asus Z-97 Sabertooth Mark 2 LGA 1150
RAM: Corsair Vengance Pro - 16 GB (2x8) DDR3 @ 1866
GPU: ASUS GTX 760 DC2OC-2GD5
PSU: Corsair CX750M
SSD: Crucial 256 GB
HDD: WD Black 2 TB
Let me know if more hardware info needed...
Anyways, just built it, installed latest MOBO and GPU drivers (from vendor's sites), excluding some utilities that I am not interested in.
After first install of Windows 7 assigned to boot from SSD, everything worked fine, and driver download/install began. Then, checking in Device Manage, I noticed that 'PCI Simple Communication' driver was not updated/installed. Did some digging online, and it seems this was due to Intel's MEI Driver not being installed. Went to Intel's DL center, attempted to install, and it threw me the vague error. So, I searched around the internet for a more updated version/confirmed solution to no avail. Contemplating that this could be an issue with my OS install, I reinstalled a clean version of Windows 7...
So, I repeated the above steps, and STILL, I get the same 'Your system does not meet the minimum specifications to install this driver' (though I'm SURE it does). All other drivers installed just fine (on all 3 fresh Windows 7 installations).
This appears to be a fairly common problem, but I haven't been able to find a viable solution after relentless research through plenty of tech forums/threads. Many of these threads of a result of the desire for 5-way optimization, though I'm not sure what that is... I just want my system to run smoothly, and all drivers up to date.
Does anyone have a free driver manager they are particularly keen to that may solve the problem?
I would greatly appreciate a hand...
