Earlier this morning I woke up to find my computer not working properly. The keyboard was refusing to type certain letters, so I had figured it might be sticky keys (my computer loves to put on sticky keys). However, in the past whenever I typed a letter (such as the letter L would lock the screen) it would bring up a function. Today, however, it did not do that; it would just act as if I never typed letters in the first place.

Some of the keys worked, like some of the letters and all the numbers, but the keys like ctrl, fn, and alt didn't work.
So, I went on my phone (as it was incredibly frustrating to type on my computer, I had to bring up the on screen keyboard) and googled for some answers. I saw someone who had a problem on a Microsoft thread, and a Microsoft staff / official had replied that a method to try would be shutting the computer off completely. (I had restarted my computer earlier, and normally that fixes it but it hadnt this time)

So, I shut my computer off and turned it back on again. Now, I'm greeted by the System Information screen. The screen prompts me to press Esc to continue.
Except, when I press the esc key, nothing happens. I tried looking up more solutions, I even sent a question on Microsoft forums hours and hours ago, and no response. I'm a digital artist (I do not use PhotoShop, as I know Photoshop has a problem with Esc) and it is important I try and fix this so that the people who have commissioned me aren't inconvenienced.

Can anyone try and give some more suggestions? I've tried a few things already: removing the battery, trying to restart again, trying to toggle off sticky keys, as well as removing all USB devices that were plugged in. Its a HP notebook PC if that helps any. Thank you to anyone who replies, I am on my phone right now (legitimately nothing I try is getting me through this system information screen) and my phone is hooked to my email, so I will try to get back to any replies as quick as possible since I'm doing nothing but sitting here trying to find more answers. Thanks!

I tried to do that, and it does not bring mw anywhere else. I restarted my computer while pressing and then again while holding the button, and it still brings me to the system information screen.

The system information screen is just that. It comes up labeled as system information, and there is a bunch of information about my computer (model, numbers, ids, ECT) with nothing else but the prompt to use Esc to continue.

I'll see if I can find a spare USB lying around the house if you're sure that could possibly work. Windows itself doesn't boot, its not just a black screen nor is it bios. As soon as I restart this system information screen comes up and I can't do anything else.

Your keyboard is most likely broken. If your laptop is still qualify for a warranty then I suggest go there. I had similar issue with my HP 15AC048 CA and the HP guy fixed it (delivered it straight to my house after it was fixed). My keyboard was broken. Half of them did not type the correct letter and some doesn't even work

FYI: HP guys keep your software untouched

Tried that Colif, didn't seem to work. My model is a HP 2000 Notebook PC.

@dexxterlab97 - this issue has happened before, and I've fixed it, it was a problem with my computer settings (not the keyboard itself); the problem now is that when I went to reboot the laptop, I can't exit out of a screen. Thanks for the comment though, I appreciate it!

But is your PC still has warranty?

I dont believe the PC has a warranty on it anymore, so no.

I already tried the second link and just tried the first, that didn't work either. I'm right back on the system information page.
