Hello Everyone,

As the subject says I am able to access the internet absolutely fine but am unable to traceroute or ping any IPs. It shows as requested timed out and is unable to proceed further than the private IP.

I am facing high ping/latency issues in one of the servers (CS server) I access for gaming.

Tried hard reboot of the router too, upgraded firmware too and tried changing dns server and default gateway but that has been of no help.

It just means there is a device that is blocking icmp packets. It could be hop 2 or hop 3 no way to be 100% sure. It makes little difference if you have no control over those device so you can change it. You will have to contact your ISP for help. It is fairly rare to block this since it is so commonly used in troubleshooting.

With the latency on hop 2 so low this device is likely in your house or very nearby.

Sorry for the very delayed response, was out of town.

We live in an apartment and my neighbor has the same ISP however he is able to ping and tracert without any fuss. I tried connecting one of my laptop directly to the switch when the ISP guy came to troubleshoot, he was not able to find out where the issue was in the switch. We changed ports too but of no help.
