Unable to run in DirectX 10

As the title says, aside from the games that do not support DirectX 9 or there is an option to select which version one wants to run, all of my games insist on running the DirectX 9 version of the game. And it isn't just detection software reporting this data to me, some of the games themselves display that they are running on the DirectX 9.0c version... I run 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate with a GTX 260 which supports DirectX 10, DirectX is up to date, so are my GPU drivers, and DirectX Diagnostic Tool reports that I'm indeed running DirectX 11

I may be wrong but I don't think many games use 10 so since your card only supports 9 & 10 it will run in 9.

check if the game is on the list. Like the poster above said, there aren't that many DX10 games. Most games jumped to DX11.
