Hi There Everyone.

I am unable to run my ram at the maximum speed which is 1866mhz
Here are my system specs

Processor: i5 3570k with stock cooler
Motherboard: P8z77- V LK
Ram: Gskill ripjaws F3-14900cl10s 1x8gb
Psu: VS550 watts
Gpu: Yet to install
Casing: Cm Storm Sniper

This is my first build and I cant run the ram at max speed.Yes I know my build is outdated but I live in Pakistan and prices for every item is almost a 100% extra.

Now back to the question, I have the updated bios version. I have tried the xmp settings and rest all on auto, but it doesnt go beyond windows startup and always shows "system occured with a problem" and goes into system recovery.

It is only running at 1333mhz, any speed higher doesnt let it run.

I tried putting the speed in manually, which didn't work either even the voltage to 1.55v. (but i dont know where are the rest of commands like tcr to 2t etc)

I have tried different slots but the case remains same.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

It sounds like a bad stick, so it's defaulting to the slowest speed.

I would RMA the stick, and if possible get another identical stick or replace with a kit with TWO sticks instead (such as 2x4GB 1866MHz).

TWO sticks in Dual-Channel (must use recommended motherboard configuration) double the bandwidth between CPU and Memory compared to a single stick.

For most things 1866MHz on a single stick is fine, though probably 1333MHz you're losing some performance. It's very hard to be specific as it varies a lot.

Check your BIOS version, I know you said it's the LATEST so ignore if this is true. If it's older than 1402 you should update it. (check while in BIOS or use CPU-Z)

v1402 adds support for newer memory, though you may still have a bad stick.

1. click "others" for OS

2. download 1402 BIOS, and bupdater

3. follow MANUAL instructions to flash to 1402 BIOS
