I usually let Windows do its own updates and don't check Winodws Updates but today I noticed this error message:

After that I ran the Windows update troubleshooter and got this error:

PC is 9 weeks old and I haven't noticed anything wrong with it. What should I do and what is the severity of this?

Specs:

i3-9100
UHD 630 iGPU
Gigabyte H310M S2H 2.0
Kingston 3200MHZ 12GB Ram [1x8 + 1x4]

Also I've noticed that Windows Security is blank when I enter it:

On top of that, I wasn't able to enter services.msc because it was blocked "for my protection" and now that I've entered it, "Windows Update" is missing;

I've noticed that Windows Update and Defender are missing from services.msc. Whenever I would try to check for updates I would get the 0x80070057error and when I would try to view update history or pause update it would just freeze.

Similar thing happens to Windows Security. When I open it, it's blank saying "Security at a glance". However, I am able to access Virus & Threat protection manually by typing it in the search box but whenever I would click on anything, nothing happens.

What is the severity of this issue and how can it be fixed?

I use my PC for general browsing and streaming. I download nothing on my SSD as all downloads go on my HDD.

which version of Win 10 are you on?
right click start
choose run...
type winver and press enter
Current version is 2004.

have you tried this?
right click start button
choose powershell (admin)
type SFC /scannow and press enter
once its completed, copy/paste this command into same window:
Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth
and press enter

SFC fixes system files, second command cleans image files, re run SFC if it failed to fix all files and restart PC

Yes, I am running 2004.

I did what you said and Windows Update is back and I am able to update. Windows Defender is still missing.

Before running SFC, in the Command Prompt window (run as admin) , copy and paste the following commands one at a time:

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

Next type command sfc /scannow and press enter key

Once the scanning process completes 100% restart the system.
Check for updates again.
