Are you serious? Yours artifacts at stock speeds? Try rage 3d tweak to underclock the memory and see if it goes away.

Anyway, I put in for a repalcement not a return. I doubt you will get your full money back without losing the 15% fee unless you request a repair/replacement and they are no longer available. if out of stock they will then refund your money. otherwise you will get a replacement card.

If your's is the same I suspect sapphire unloaded some crap cards on newegg. If so, many are being RMA'd, so you may want to search for some more evidence and be a bit more forcefull in having the 15% fee waved given the number of complaints. I know i voiced my dissatification to newegg complaining Sapphire unloaded junk on them this time. I told them it was a waste of both Neweggs and Mine time/shipping fees that I find inexcuseable for Sapphire to sell cards that fil within seconds in 3D aps at stock speeds. Proves they test the cards for booting and that is it. Anyway, Cost me $8 to return mine, so if the second one fails I'll be voicing a harsher complaint with some acceptable solutions.

So, how did yours turn out? I can handle mine being bad, but stinks big time if everyone got screwed. I've bought a ton of Newegg refurbs, and problems have been rare. If my replacement comes back bad too, it will probably be my last refurb.

Sorry - I didn't mean to be misleading. When I said I had similar issues I was thinking of how your card didn't meet your expectations.

All I really did was install the card and open up a large assembly in SolidWorks. When I spun the assembly around I noted that a few edges that should've shown up as lines didn't display properly. It wasn't a deal-breaker by itself, but I subconsciously coupled that with your comments and probably thought worse of the card than I should have. If you feel that yours was just "defective" and not common to all of these particular cards, there may not really be anything wrong with the one I got. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if this one is completely normal.

I wrote an email to Newegg requesting that they waive the restocking fee because I feel that I got the wrong card. If they balk at that I'll probably just keep it and put it in my wife's computer so the boys will have a moderate "gaming" card. For my computer I'm leaning toward something perhaps another level up or at least that comes with all the accessories.

Sorry for not being more clear.

I'm looking forward to learning how the replacement card compares to the one you RMA'd.

Tim

They have some more of them in the <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-362R&type=Refurbished" target="_new">$140</A> to <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-286R&type=Refurbished" target="_new">$142</A> price range.

Thx for making me feel better Cleeve.

I would have been pretty dissapointed if all three THGC orders for this card were bad. I know the risks and feel it's worth it based on past success. Hopefully mine was the bad one in a good bunch and the next one will be fine. It would be nice if they mess up and replace it with the HIS Ice Q model that was a $175 refurb.

Unsure why as they have loads of 128MB 256-bit 9800 pro's in stock. But Newegg refunded my money in full instead of sending me a replacement, claiming my item is out of stock and unavailable. Oh well, lost $8.50 in return shipping fees and no card to show for it. But New 256-bit 9800 pros can be bought for $167 now, just check pricewatch, so I am Ok with it. Win some lose some.
