Quite frankly, I really don't think that anyone here will find a solution to this problem.

There is this file on my computer, it's called "s6mo." (no file extension). It's 3,36gb in size and I think it was created by an uncompleted video render from Adobe Premiere (not entirely sure about this). This file is completely useless, and it CANNOT BE DELETED.

When I try to delete it, I get a message saying that the file isn't there.
I've tried multiple ways to do it via Command Prompt (yes, as administrator), and I get the same message.
I've tried 5+ different purpose-built softwares, and all of them give me the same message.

The strange thing is that all programs can see the file when browsing for it, but when the program tries to open/delete/use the file, it looks as if it's not there.

I recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7, and the file did not disappear. I just transfered my whole C-drive to an SSD, and the file is still there. (now it's both in windows.old and on my desktop on both the old and the new C-drive :ouch: )

Please help me! This has been bugging me for months!

Nope, there is no extension!

When I try to rename it, I get this message:

It's there, but it's not?

One other thing to try, if you have not already done so, is to take ownership of the file. Paradoxical as it may sound, on Windows even the Administrator doesn't have access to everything by default (but can give themselves access by taking ownership).

Update: Having seen your previous post I suspect that it is a "zombie" file (i.e. a directory entry without a corresponding file). chkdsk will fix that. Oh - no I see from your latest post that it didn't!

Oh! I didn't know that. How do I do this?

I tried taking ownership, it did not work.

HOWEVER. I have tried multiple softwares (like 5-10 of them), but never "Unlocker", and of course this is the program that had the solution!

If anyone has the same problem (a file ending with a period), this is THE program to solve it: http://filehippo.com/download_unlocker/
