Undependable Keyboard

Have been using a Microsoft keyboard with 98SE for some 4
years. Now it more than occcasionally ceases to operate
[say when in Word 2000 or when on net]. Rebooting cures it
until it re-occurs. {Obviously OK at present as I type
this} I have tried a different keyboard but same thing
happens. I had a recent problem with the PS2 mouse - this
was solved by replacing with a USB mouse. I have tried a
PS2-USB adapter with the keyboard but it is not recognised!

Ayone any suggestions.

Some hardware cannot utilize adapaters. It is unlikely that the
keyboard is going to ever work with that PS/2 to USB adapter you have.
It sounds more like your motherboard's PS/2 port is the thing causing
the problems and not the keyboard if other keyboards are having the same
problem. You can always try updating the drivers, but I doubt this is
the problem. You may just need to buy a USB keyboard since buying a new
motherboard would be way more expensive. Here is a link to the new
