Recently have been looking for a pc build but seriously struggling as i am a bit lost, having difficulty finding what goes with what and what is better than what.
ideally would want to be able to play games like the elder scrolls series as well as a few other fairly recent games.
i have a budget of just under 500
would also love it if i could upgrade it as time goes on in order to keep it current
do not require an OS or peripherals

just wanted to update you guys as you were all a big help, thanks for the input about the motherboard especially, had to go for a 1030 as a placeholder until i get some more income then the first thing I'm going to update is my 1030 to either a 1050 or a 1050ti. some corners did have to be cut like buying second hand etc so i could save up faster for a 1050 but here it is woop!love the site you guys keep up the good work :)

Not getting it at all mate .

Why the vs psu ?? Its rank & the cx is £10 less & infinitely better quality .

Why the 2 single sticks of crucial ram ?? Literally £2 less than the patriot viper.

The 1030 is not a gaming card imo.

£10 more , infinitely better.

whats the issue with the single sticks of ram? and no idea what the psu needs to be like to be honest its my first build all i went off was the wattage, will it not work like? 1030 is best i can afford at the moment don't get all snippy mate and I'm strapped for cash, some people aren't in position to drop £20-£30 quid extra, if it can still run what i want it to run for the time being I'm happy with it, all i care about is if it fits together and works at the moment. i asked you guys for help as a guide to what to look for, if i cant afford some stuff AT THIS TIME or half the stuff you suggested is out of stock at the price then what can i do i need a computer ill have to deal with what i have until i can afford to move it up a notch

1)you stress the memory controller alot more than in dual channel (2 sticks of ram) this will affect your games..
2) the 750 ti is cheaper and better and uses the same amount of watt
3) the powersupply powers every components in your pc, you can upgrade a single component at the time or everything if you choose a poor powersupply (like the corsair vs) the cs is the same price and WAAAYY better. bronze or gold doesn't matter thats only efficiency, its about the quality and voltage stability.

On the single vs dual sticks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u827fdCOCao

On 1050 vs 1030: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cq8sZpeCPGY

On the psu: it is not about wattage, some can be misleading, it is about quality, CX will last much longer than VS, period.

If you don't care about the performance diff and may need to buy new psu soon, go ahead. We are trying to get you best bang for the money. Also the new build by Matt is only 433.76 compared to your 432.11, why do you keep saying you can't afford?

i already had the ram sticks unused available for £30 for both off a mate who works with computers, so took him up on it a while ago before starting all this, the £450 was a general price range then my budget dropped, due to reasons, so had about 400ish to get all the rest together so was going to use your guys help as parts to aim for when my budget increases, managed to get what i could, i just put my ram into part picker to check it worked with what i had got already. if theres a way to get the single sticks to function the same as if id have bought the 8gb kit then I'm all ears, but if not I'm going to have to manage as best i can with the 1030 and the sticks of ram i guess, like i said never done it before and in a bad money situation to do this, granted, but just thought making my own pc would be a good way to cheer myself up tbqh dude

Well if you got the ram for £30 then fair play.
'Should' be absolutely fine

That psu is the big sticking point to me .
Aa I said the cx450 is infinitely better quality with a 5 year warranty & £10 cheaper .

Still say drop a tenner on both the board & case & you have that rx560 instead of a 1030 , its just a much better card for gaming.

the case i managed to get for like a tenner cheaper anyway off amazon warehouse and is the exact case id want to try stick to further down the line anyway, the board is a bit pricey, but the other boards on amazon had some pretty sketchy reviews so put me off them for anything lower, the rx560 is my ideal card, the 1050 would have been great to get but unfortunately the one i found got snapped up as the price was too good, i did quite a bit of research on the cards before finalising on what i could afford based on what was good enough and sadly that's where my budget landed me, honestly did appreciate your input it saved me a few days of research and would likely have messed up something along the way, in regards to the ram, i assumed seeing as theyre the same speed and single rank theyd work just the same for a small difference in price, and the psu, like i said i have no idea about those at all, as long as it wont hinder my performance i got it for a great discount and will be happy to replace it anyway with the CX when i can.

i will do, maybe it was because of the lack of explaining my financial situation that caused the issues, but you guys sure were helpful. have a good un boys
