So, I am buying a set of 2x8gb corsair vengeance 2400Mhz early for my new build as RAM is cheap at the moment, but I thought instead of it sitting there doing nothing, waiting for my new PC build, can I stick it into my current build (GA 78-LMT-USB3) I have researched a bit, and have found out that it will work, just down-clock it to the maximum speed my motherboard can handle (1333mhz) but will this permanently effect it in anyway?, down-clocking and using it, before I put it into my new build? Probably a stupid question, but I want to make sure I don't mess up my RAM for the new PC. Thanks.

FX-6300, they wont stay down-clocked if I put them in my new PC after down-clocking them on my old PC? (New PC will have RoG Maximus VII and an i7-4790k)

COuple things with this, 1600 is the highest value supported by the mobo, the mobos default is 1066 - not 1600, another is the mobo doesn't support XMP, and it's highly doubtful, regardless of mobo, that the 6300 will run DRAM at 2400
