Hey.
I've recently taken on the challenge of building my own gaming PC, after many years playing on consoles. So I'm inexperienced to say the least! 😄
I've bought a HX850i modular PSU, however I'm a little nervous about just ramming cables in the wrong place and subsequently blowing something up. Hoping someone can help shine some light on what port's what.
Here's a picture of the ports: https://www.techfox.co.za/wp-content/uploads/corsair-hx850i-psu-b-600x600.jpg
Here is also an online PDF for the docs that came with it: https://www.corsair.com/corsairmedia/sys_master/productcontent/HX_Manual.pdf
Some are super easy to spot, like the 24-pin for the MB in the bottom right, the 8-pin for the CPU in the top right, and the 8-pin for the graphics card second from the top right.
The two on the top and bottom left also indicates those are for SATA – pretty straight-forward. However is there any difference between them? Could I use any of those four 6-pin ports for SATA cables without worrying about voltage differences?
Also, there's no clear description as to what the entire middle row is for. It appears to be two more SATA ports on the left, then three (more?) 8-pin ports on the right side. Does anyone know what I can use them for? My MB requires an additional 8-pin 12v power supply, so I'm assuming it'll go in one of those.
Naturally I've read the docs that came with it, but there was no information about the ports; just a list of cables supplied and some power efficiency information. I've checked online too but couldn't find much else.
Thanks for any help! It would be majorly appreciated before I start the build in a day or two.
