Whenever I insert a CD or DVD I get that familiar little dialog:

Windows can perform the same action each time you
insert a disk or connect a device with this kind of file: ... What do
you want Windows to do?

and there's that little checkbox at the bottom:

[ ] Always do the selected action.

Frankly, I would like to check that checkbox, but I never do, since I
haven't a clue, if I ever wanted to change my mind and have Windows do
something else, how I'd do that? Obviously the dialog ain't gonna come
up again, once I check the checkbox, so how would I change my desired
action?

Anyone know?

Solution:

Open any Windows Explorer Window (My Documents, My music etc.)

Go to Tools > Folder Options and click on the File Types tab. Find the
extension or media in which you want to change.

Under "Details of "xxx" extension, click the Change Button.

This opens the "Open With" window. Near the bottom there is the same "Always
use the selected Program to open this file" check box. Clear the checkmark.

Sometimes if it is something like an audio cd, that check box may be
replaced with the "Always perform this action" or something similar.

Hope that's what you are looking for.

Right click on the CD/DVD Drive or USB-Device, Properties and here
"AutoPlay"

You can change the default action via the Drive Properties (AutoPlay tab)

Right-click the drive-letter in My Computer.
Click the AutoPlay tab
Select the Content type from the drop-down
Select "Prompt me to choose an action"... and click OK

I have been doing some research to try and saove my problem and have had no luck. I came across this thread that is similiar and I hoping for some further input. When I go to import pictures off my media card from my camera a bow would pop up and give me options of what to do. The box still pops up but it is now blank. I have gone into autoplay in properties on the media card and it is blank as well. I can't restore defaults either. I did't check the box that says always perform this or change any other settings that I know of. One day it was there, the next day it was gone. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
