Hi.
It's been a very frustrating few days as I have been searching everywhere for a solution to my problem, but to no avail.
I have been using Ethernet connection for about a month now and it has been working perfectly. However, yesterday, for no apparent reason I cannot connect to my router. If I try and connect to it, it just says "Unidentified network" and "No Internet Access". Wi-Fi connection works fine, even if it is a bit slow. All the other computers in my house connected through Ethernet are working perfectly fine. I have a feeling it is a problem with my Ethernet controller's IP and Default gateway. I am okay with computers but I honestly have no idea what all the networking jargon means, so please keep it to a minimum.

In Short - I can't connect to my router through Ethernet, as it just says "Unidentified network" and "No Internet Access". All the other computers in my house conncted by Ethernet are working fine.

Solution
So Hamichi no longer shows up as LAN2 in your ipconfig?

If not, my last idea is to run a registry fix that is under Option 2 HERE that I've used a couple of times with success. It's rare that I have to get that far though. Now that Hamichi is disabled some of the earlier ideas may work too.

These tough unidentified network issues are not uncommon and always make me wonder why MS didn't include the security policy editor with Home Premium, at least as a later fix.
Go to control panel, click on network and internet, click on network and sharing center, cilck on change adapter settings on the right side. Right click on Local Area connection 2, go to properties, select TCP/IPv4, then click on properties. Select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and below select "obtain DNS server address automatically".

Also, follow the above steps above but this time on your Wireless LAN adapter.

Make sure the hamichi and all other LAN adapters are disabled EXCEPT for Local Area connection 2 and the Wireless LAN adapter 3. Restart your machine.

As happened before, I have established connection via Ethernet and I am replying purely through wired connection. However, last time this happened it lost connection and returned to normal after about 5 minutes, so I haven't got my hopes up. The latest thing I made changes to was the registry so if it was anything it was that.
In relation to the DHCP, I had already enabled that.
I will reply if connection is lost again.
I will make sure to get upgraded from Home Premium to Professional once I get 64-bit, because it isn't too expensive and might prevent problems like this is I refer back to this thread.
Just in case it has worked permanently, I thank you for your time and help today, It has been very simple and easy for my brain to understand.
Thanks,
Jacob 🙂

The connection definitely seems to be holding up. Ill mark the thing that you told me to do that triggered the fix as the solution, but if anyone has the same trouble it is worth reading the other parts as well if one doesn't work for you.
