Hello everyone, i have overclocked my gpu (r9 270). I ran heaven, valley
3dmark11, played games (bf4, crysis 3) and I had no crashes or artifacts, it was stable, temps where low 60s. when i ran heaven again without overclocking any further, it crashed.

When i ran it again i got weird blue triangles. 3dmark11 also had a similar problem and so did bf4 and crysis 3 (valley was fine). when i reset back to stock clocks, the problem is still there. It goes away when i restart the computer

It seems like when heaven gets artifacts so does everything else. Anyone know what the problem could be.
Thanks to all who answer

Artifacts indicate that graphics memory overclock is too high. Halts, lockups and crashes indicate that GPU overclock is too high. Keep in mind that there is some interaction between them.

Various graphics stress test software place different load levels on memory / GPU, which accounts for different stability behaviors. For example, Heaven runs a consistent 100% GPU load, while 3DMark runs a lighter GPU load. Each stresses graphics memory overclock / GPU overclock differently.
Probably an unstable card due to your overclock. Restarting the computer sounds like the only way to reset the card back to normal. You can live with the problem or reduce your overclock until the problem no longer persists.

Conversely, you could increase the fan speed to improve cooling of the card and possibly increase the voltage and see if this stabilizes the card at the current overclock.

I backed off on the clock a bit and it is more stable, but I dont understand why if one program fails all of the other do, even if they never had that problem
