Uninitialized Disk

Hello,

Today I plugged in WD external HD and it did not appear under my computer. I went to disk management and it said the HD was uninitialized. The HD has worked previously and has important data on it. Any idea what I can do without compromising the data?

Did you have the option to Initialize in Disk Management? Does it ask you to initialize when you reconnect the drive to the computer?

I have to disagree, that problem isn't all that easy to fix... But, try testdisk:

It's one of the most powerful free data recovery tools I've used.

As a rule of thumb in the future, try to keep your important data on two forms of permanent storage (HD and Ext. HD for example.) That way, you'll have your bases covered if this happens again!

Assuming it's just a logical problem rather than a physical one, try Partition Find and Mount:

It may be problem of windows, Because it is a logical prob not physical. You can check it at linux once. May be linux can give you access to you HDD. Have a try once before doing anything
