Universal Serial Bus controller on Laptop

Under Univer Serial Bus Controller on the device manager on my laptop I can see: 2 USB Composute device, Intel (R) USB 3.0 eXtensive Host Controller 1.0 (Microsoft) and USB root hub (xHCI).

Just for curiosity I want to know which is which. My laptop has 2 usb 2.0 port and 1 usb 3.0 port

the usb 3.0 should be the blue one

each controller is fully capable of handling 127 devices. you have 1 3.0 port, if you add enough hubs then that one port can access 127 devices off the single port.
the USB2.0 controller is controlling both of the USB 2.0 ports. again with enough hubs the USB 2.0 controller can handle 127 devices. the laptop maker added a second port, so 125 left.
