I've contacted them already, and they seem at a loss.

My cable is fine, my ethernet adapter is fine because I can bridge it with my laptop and have it work, I've updated the drivers, ensured DHCP and LAN settings in IE8 and my Local Area Connection, spoofed my MAC address, and released/renewed with ipconfig.

What happened was:
1. My internet was relatively slow.
2. I unplugged the ethernet cable from the wall jack.
3. Plugged it back in.
4. After going into IE8, with what should've been a page to log into the university's network, I was greeted with the "The address is not valid" and http:/// in my URL bar. Yes, 3 slashes. This happens with any address, http://google.com, www.google.com, google.com.

Network and Sharing Center shows that I'm not even connected to the "Unidentified Network".

Here's my ipconfig /all

C:\Windows\system32>ipconfig /all

Solution
Did you clear all temp files? Why are you still using IE 8? You also don't have a correct IP, you are at 169 which is an auto IP when the system can't get a DHCP address. Work with the school to see why you are not getting an IP from the DHCP server.
