Unknown Display Issue

I haven't used my system in a while. I loaded the racing simulator I use and the display froze and I got a "no signal error." I restarted the system and the screen was black. I made sure the connections were secure and that resolved the issue. I loaded again this time into the Oculus Rift and the whole system froze.

I did a hard restart and the display defaulted to 1024x768. I changed to 1080p and decided maybe I needed to update my drivers. I installed updated drivers smoothly. The system required a restart and so I did. When the system rebooted the display said "out of range." I've never seen a monitor say that before. Now I just get the general no signal error.

When I reboot I can't say I'm hearing a "post" from the motherboard.

i5 3570K @ 4.2ghz
ASUS Strix 1080
16GB RAM
WIn 10
ASRocks z77 motherboard (unsure of exact spec on it at the moment)

I've tried disconnecting everything except the keyboard and mouse. I'm about to try a new DVI cable and a new monitor. I've tried plugging into the motherboard video output.

I've tried a different monitor and a different video card and eliminated those as sources of the issue. I've got a new DVI cable coming in case it is the cable itself. motherboard is the extreme 4. I've tried booting with no video card using the onboard video on the motherboard and no luck.

This helped. I now see the display that normally comes up when booting and I can get into my boot menu. However, Windows doesn't finish loading. I suppose it could be the HDD? I'm in need of updates so this is a good excuse, but if I can get it working in the meantime that'd be nice.

Thank you. I think it is posting properly but I cant exactly tell. I get the spinning windows screen and no signal. It once gave me a safe mode option but also gave me a restart option. I used restart and haven't seen that screen since.

The power supply is a very new modular corsair 750w gold rated power supply. It could be the problem but it is not a primary suspect at this point.

If you get to the windows loading screen then it is completing POST. Try loading into the BIOS and checking all your settings. Also check the temps. Obviously don't overclock it until these issues are fully resolved. If you try all that in the article and can't get it to load windows, you should try running a bootable version of your HDD manufacturer's disk utilities. That utility can run tests on your HDD to see if it is failing.

Thanks. I'll try those things. I can tell you the Temps are not an issue at all. They're very cool. The OC is off after clearing bios. It wasn't aggressive at all ever anyhow.
