Unlocking ASUS A7N8X-LA.. For memory upgrade

I have an ASUS A7N8X-LA, it is capable of 2GB DDR2 PC2700.. But I own an HP PC with this motherboard and it is limited to 1GB. Can I do something to add more memory? Here is the link to the Mobo Specs.. Thanks guys 😀

No. HP PCs have their own BIOS, which is limiting the RAM to 1GB

I have a Compaq Pressario S4500UK it was bought (I think) befor HP took over Compaq. Motherboard specs on the HP web site states max memory of 2GB but other specs related to this make of PC state 1GB. I am wanting to upgrade from 2x526MB modules to 2x1GB modules.

Is this the same problem UPser has?

I also have the A7N8X-LA, specs do say 2700, 2 gig ram max capacity.
I purchased 2 1 gig chips... BIOS recognizes both, however, windows will crash if I try with 2gig or even just 1gig. Any ideas??? thanks!
