Unlocking CPU core

Hi guys,

How do you unlock CPU cores? I have an i-7 4790 with 4 cores. I want to unlock it to be able to play the Witcher III at 60fps on Ultra. A friend says I should do so because usually only a couple of cores are doing work while the rest aren't being used. The BIOS says all cores are unlocked but apparently that's not the case?

you should have 4 cores and 4 hyperthreaded cores. turn hyperthreading (HT) on in bios.

This is however completely different to how cores are being used, windows schedules tasks to cores, it does it quite well, if it doesn;t do it for a particular program then that's generally because the program is poorly coded.

this website offers a free tool to unpark cores, I used it over the weekend to play with it and found it to be pretty neat.
