[SOLVED] Unplayable game performance ?

Hi All!

I recently upgraded to an RX 6700 XT and since then (I think?) - the games I try to play that are using the Unity engine run horrifically...I'm talking like 4-10 fps in The Outer Wilds and Tabletop Simulator. I think that with my setup I should be seeing really good framerates, but I'm no expert.

I am also getting similarly atrocious fps in Tainted Grail: Conquest, but I've read a lot of performance complaints with that game, so I'm not sure it's worth including.

I have run DDU
Here is my latest UserBenchMark result: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/49528498

If anyone can offer any advice or nudging in the right direction, I would be supremely grateful.

Thanks!

Solution
I just ran Outer Wilds as I have it installed (although not played for awhile as I kindof lost my way with the game, blindly wondering around not really understanding it).
Anyway, I was getting about 100FPS in game on my RX5700XT.

Im out of ideas. A Windows re-install I guess is an option but a major hassle.

Hope you resolve this. Sorry I cant help further.

The only thing I can spot in your Userbenchmark is that you have a Samsung Spinpoint F3 old spinning laptop disk. If your games are on that, thats probably going to hurt.
Hope your games are on the 1TB SSD and disconnect the spinning rust.

Thanks for taking a look and the reply! I was just pulling some old data off of that Samsung drive...everything is on the SSD.

Not sure I did this right (let me know if I need to tweak the test at all and re-post), as I haven't used CrystalDiskMark much, but here's what I got:

Those numbers look excellent. Its not the SSD.
I see you are running Windows 11, maybe thats a consideration with the Ryzen CPU in games ?
Lastly, the UserBenchMark says you have high background CPU, mine was at 6% when I run it just now, but yours is at 26%.

I'm starting to suspect it is Windows 11 or the upgrade process that bunked it and am leaning towards a fresh install of W10. As far as the background CPU usage, it typically hovers around 7-10% with my basic junk (teams, a/v, internet browser, etc..) running. I'm not sure what I had running in the background during the test. I have noticed that when I get that awful performance in Unity games, my utilization is super low. Here are performance metrics for in the main menu of Outer Wilds and then in-game.

Please, don't be sorry! Thank you for taking time out of your day to review my situation. I really appreciate it. I am going to ponder a reinstall and I will report back here once I've done it as to whether it helps or not. Thanks again!

So I ran the reset in Windows 11 and started with a fresh install and, after all my drivers and what-not were installed, the first thing I installed was Outer Wilds. Now I am getting about 190 fps and it looks great. Reinstall is a bit of a hassle, but I keep everything backed up to a local NAS so it's not too bad. Again, @Nine Layer Nige I appreciate you taking the time to help me. Have a good one!
