[SOLVED] Unplugging Ethernet cable while PC is on?

Going straight to the point.
My common sense tells me I should turn off my PC before I unplug the ethernet cable. But If I unplug it while the computer is turned on, is this being harmful in any way? I am asking because am using a laptop now, and I often find myself in need to switch locations, so don't always have the time to switch off before moving.

It should be perfectly fine to insert or remove an ethernet cable while the system is running. And that should be the case for just about any port on the exterior of a modern computer.

Unplugging the ethernet cable is only (maybe) detrimental to whatever data is moving through that cable at that moment.
It will not hurt the system. At all.
