Hi all.

Just wondering.

I saw the recent Samaritan and Nature demo of the Unreal Engine 3.
Looks great!
But it also doesn't look anything like Gears of War or Bioshock 2.
I thought they all use the Unreal Engine 3? I'm I confusing engine generations?
Or Gears of War doesn't use many of the new engine features?

thanks!

Those demos look like unreal engine to me. You have to understand that the engine itself is very flexible which is why alot of games use it. The recent Batman and Wolverine games are based on the Unreal engine. It allows for alot of customization like the water effects in Bioshiock, which is why developers are fond of it.

AFAIK that tech demo is heavily modified UE3. like megamanx00 said the engine allow alot of customization. if you look carefully enough even two game that using the very exact engine will not look entirely the same because of different method of customization and optimization made by the game dev

oh....shutup.....im still trying my best to destroy every building I can find in Bad Company 2 before I start Demolishing the Statue of liberty with nothing but my Trusty and Rusty Kalashnikov and RPG-7
Are you the one that does nothing but fires rockets at people!?
Hate those people, not rocket snipers but the rocket suiciders that run around and fire a rocket just to kill themselves and anyone nearby.
