Hi,
I'm building my first system and I'm trying to install Ubuntu as the operating system. It runs fine from the USB stick but when I try to install it to the hard drive I always get an error saying creation of one of the partitions failed, the message varies. I attempted to set up the partitions manually using gparted but when I try to create a new partition table I get an error on the command prompt saying unrecognized disk label.

I would appreciate any help on this, Thanks

Search for the error message on google. There are too many different reasons and you gave no info about your system setup. It might be an old ubuntu version without ahci support, you might try to install to a cd drive or card read by mistake or whatever.

I'm using a WD Blue 1 TB desktop hard drive and an AMD fx 6300 CPU. It's Ubuntu version 12.04. I'm not sure what other system information I should post, I'm new to the forums. I know that I'm trying to install to the hard drive based on the amount of memory it shows.
