SOLVED: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3290089/install-gpu-driver.html#19102379

Dell XPS 8500
Windows 7 64-bit
Motherboard: Dell 0YJPT1
Old GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7570

I bought a EVGA GTX 1050 TI SC. I followed the instructions

1) Remove old driver
2) Power off and disconnect PC
3) Install new GPU
4) Connect monitor cable to new GPU
5) Power on

At this step, the OS wont boot. I cant install the new driver

I tried plugging into the onboard motherboard video port and it says "unsupported configuration" because there is an add-in video card already (my new one).

So I kept the cable plugged into the motherboard and removed the new GPU. It boots fine! I tried to install the driver but NVIDIA's installation program wont install the driver because it can't find the compatible graphics hardware! Duh! I took it out!

Shut off computer, reinstalled GPU. Again, "unsupported configuration" because there is an add-in card. Wont boot. I'm stuck in a loop here!

Help please!

FIXED!!

I dont know if this is right or wrong but this is what I did:

1) Triple check that GPU is installed correctly.

2) DVI cable from monitor to GPU and also VGA cable from monitor to motherboard

3) Set monitor to VGA

4) Turn on computer and quickly keep on pressing F12.

5) Select "boot from harddrive/disk" or similar

6) Install driver!

7) auto restart computer.

8) Stuck on F2, F12 screen again... Frozen

9) Reboot, press F12 quickly

10) Boot from Harddrive

11) Set monitor input to DVI via GPU.

12) Problem: Still will not boot unless VGA is plugged into motherboard and F12 must be pressed to boot from Harddrive. I then can switch monitor input to DVI for my GPU

The fix for that problem is to update my BIOS. It works...
That was my step 4. At that point, the computer wouldn't boot past the Dell screen that says "F2 for BIOS(?)" and "F12 for Boot Options" but nothing works, just freezes.

Im assuming that's the case because I dont have the Nvidia drivers installed
