Question Unsupported Hardware Printer Error Message

I have a Lexmark XS463de printer. I have a firmware update on a flash drive formatted to the required FAT32 system. When I plug it into the USB in the back of the printer I get an unsupported device error. I've tried this with two different flash drives. The instructions say to plug the flash drive into the front of the printer however this printer doesn't actually have the port in the gap where it is supposed to be so I have plugged the drives into the USB port in the rear of the printer. Any thoughts on how I can make this work? Thanks.

Does the web interface to the printer have a firmware update option ?
