Unusually Low Benchies with 6800 GS

I recently bought an AGP BFG Geforce 6800 GS, cause I heard lots of good things about the price/performance ratio. However, I am getting unusually low benchmark scores on my machine compared to what it seems most people get. Low like 6500 in 3DMark 03, 1900 in 05, and 20k in Aquamark. I tried benching with the drivers from the CD and with 82.12, and both gave the same results. Is it just me, or is it possibly my motherboard?

Hardware (no oc):
Athlon64 3200+ Venice 2.0Ghz
1024MB DDR400 Kingston Value RAM
Asus A8V-MX mobo
BFG 6800 GS AGP (370/1050 stock oc)

Yes that seems a little low. You might want to check you ram with memtest or prime95 or some other program that can scan the memory for errors, I get about 5k in 05 with one of my 6800GTs and thats the same proccessor, and 1 gig of ram but a MSI SLI board, I think my old FX5900 scored higher than that in 03 so something is a problem , can you test the card in another computer?

I will run memtest in a moment, although it is Kingston ram, so it should be decent quality. I think the only other computer I have to test the card in is a P3 800 with 128mb of ram, so that would be kind of pointless, as it would bottleneck the card. I will look around for another machine that I can use.

Ran memtest for 3 hours while I was out, 10 passes, no errors. I'm fairly sure it's not spyware etc, although I'll check. It'd be nice if I could use a real OS, like something UNIX based, but I'm stuck with Windoze for gaming. Ah well.

well why dont you still put a flavor of linux on your computer. And you might be able to still play certain games on linux. It just depends.

I have Fedora Core, but to game on Linux requires several software layers of abstraction. Only DirectX and OpenGL allow the game to adress hardware directly, thus Windoze is the only practicable OS for gaming (mac is too expensive for me).
Anyways, I downloaded Spybot, ran it, it found a bunch of Firefox cookies, no spyware.
I have Forceware 82.12 drivers, which I think are the latest. They are the first forceware to support the 6800 GS, anyways. I'm trying to figure out how to update my motherboard's BIOS thingy, but I bought it recently, so it's not like the driver is years old.

What are the odds on that? A security fix bringing up benchmarks, lol. Well, I'm glad it got fixed, though! Maybe I actually should download SP2, lol

Yeah, I was leery of downloading it for quite a while, because Microsoft Security is pretty much an oxymoron. I'm thinking that since the GS is such a new card, the drivers for it must not work properly with SP1, because they would have been written for SP2.
