I recently purchased a new ASUS ROG GL551JW-DS71 from Amazon, and after testing a few games, I noticed that they all ran considerably worse than expected. Specifically, performance in every game drops rapidly over the course of a few minutes of play. Crysis 2 on Extreme settings will run at over 60 FPS after loading a save for the first time but will eventually drop to 25. Counter Strike: Global Offensive starts at around 150 FPS before hovering between 60-30 FPS a few minutes into a match. Audiosurf 2 showed a similar but less extreme pattern.
I updated my drivers to the latest 350.12 version and am running the laptop plugged in. In the meantime, I will continue to test more games and programs but have so far been pretty confused and disappointed considering that I haven't seen others reporting this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
