Hows it going everyone? Has anyone heared of Nvidias' Project Denver? Supposedly Windows8 will support this cpu. I think it's cool that Intel might finally have some competition in the high end market again. I'm currently running a watercooled QX9650 @ 4ghz for gaming and it seems to be handling everything so far. The only upgrade I think I might be needing is an Nvidia Kepler 28nm when they roll out and then it's all about waiting for the "Denver" cpus to launch and get reviewed. I'm thinking by the time that happens Intels "Ivy Bridge" will be in its second generation, or the tock cycle of Intel and I'm wondering if Nvidia is going to blow their ship out of the water or will it just be somewhat competetive. What do you guys think?

Who knows, Intel is working on 22nm Moorestown, and AMD can always taken Fusion APU's smaller. But both are still x86.

Looking at that chart, Laptops are really where the battle will take place 3 years from now. Probably sooner. The more average laptops could use ARM for better laptops, the other higher performance ones may need a x86 CPU. Either way, tablets, netbooks, and smartphones will likely stay ARM, and desktops will likely stay x86. Important thing is netbooks, tablets, and smartphones>desktops in market share.

Well, this all sounds very interesting. Thanks for your help. I hate Nvidia, so I hope they don't come out on top.

 I dont really mind Nvidia, but id like to see Intel brought down a bit. The GPU market is in almost perfect equilibrium, so competition is perfect. Best card gets my money. The CPU market on the other hand is dominated by Intel, and id like to see that change a bit. Make it more like the GPU market.

Yeah, although I don't want AMD prices to shoot up, just Intel's go down. I hate Nvidia though.

Never said AMD will go out of business. Also you need to check AMD's profits or lack there of compared to Intel and Nvidias. Not looking good for AMD. Bulldozer needs to come through or expect even more crappy price/performance.

Well, when you say they are screwed, that normally means going out of business. AMD has a lot less money to work with too, which means that can't get all the high tech.

That's what I'm thinking also. They might be able to introduce it around 2013 (I'm just guessing at that) but it will definately need all of the software support that x86 gets and if it doesn't die in the first few years due to this it should be competetive I hope. As far as the guys statements earlier about Nvidia PhysX I think there is a little bit to be desired regarding the performance hit that even the current cards are getting. If by 2015 the Denver cpu/gpu runs all of this off the shelf then things are only going to get better from there.

Here's something I got from Hexus.net:
Lastly we asked about Project Denver: the surprising announcement that NVIDIA will be designing a CPU in partnership with ARM, with a view to using it in high-end computers. We asked Rayfield to elaborate.

“As well as licensing Cortex A15, we also have an architectural license with ARM to produce an extremely high performance ARM CPU, which be combined with NVIDA GPUs for super-computing,” he said. When we asked for timescales, Rayfield revealed: “The Maxwell generation will be the first end-product using Project Denver. This is a far greater resource investment for us than just licensing a design.”
