You don't have to touch the battery as it's unrelated with the BIOS
flashing procedure.
Given the content of your question be sure to read the instructions for
flashing BIOS very carefully before proceeding, and be sure to make a
proper and working backup.
Also ask yourself the question why you want to update BIOS. If
everything is working, there might be no need to flash it. Only if you
experience hardware problems you think or know are or may be related to
BIOS flash it.
