If any mods could delete my previous thread that would be awesome. I got much more information about the problem. Posted this on many forums and no one can find the fix for it.

A few days ago i noticed my all my games were choppy. Almost like they were running at lower frame rate but when i checked my frame rate it was fine. This happens in all games and is usually followed up by input lag. When more stuff is happening on screen the choppiness gets worse, but i still have high reported frame rate. I don;t know what to do...i have tried everything i can think of. Forcing v-sync in game and in the control panel does nothing to alleviate the issue. Fps is capped at 60 but is still choppy.

The issue is that games are incredibly choppy. The best way i can describe it is that when turning your screen you can see and *feel* as if frames are dropping, but they are not. Even when the fps is capped and it does not move. When lots of things are happening on screen the choppiness gets worse and there is more input lag.

It is such a weird issue, in all my years of pc building/troubleshooting i have not come across an issue as strange as this one.

Vsync on and off doesnt help. All my drivers are up to date. I tried unparking my cpu cores. I dont know if this is graphics card issue or something. Should i send it back and could it possible be because i dont have an SSD

PC Specs
Asus GTX 970 strix
1 stick of 8 gb ram
intel core i5 4690k 3.5 ghy quad core
1 TB HDD
Z97 gaming 5 MSI motherboard
650W PSU inter tech

I got this pc 5 days ago the first day the first game that i installed which was league of legends everything was amazing. The next day this issue appeared.

TNX for the help

What case do you have? The standoffs should have come with the case not the motherboard. If you are screwing the motherboard straight the case with out standoffs in between on a case that requires standoffs(which is most of them) you need to shut the system down ASAP it will cause a short that will damge atleast the motherboard. Now there are a couple of cases that will have small raised humps and dont require standoffs and there are case that have the humops but still reuire a couple standoff for certain sizes of motherboards.

Alright tomorrow i will buy the standoffs and i will report back if the issue is not there anymore thank you so much for mentioning that. Thanks for the help so far guys i will see you tomorrow if you will be still willing to help me.

Whats the make and model of the case you're using?

No problem man happy to help!

This is Exoclap replying from different account. I hope my components will be ok im so worried right now 🙁 My previous computer was used and thats why it didnt come with standoffs. I dont even know what model of the case i am using how should i find that out.

Alright going to buy them tomorrow thank you so much if this fixes the problem i will pay you 10 dollars or more and for you too jrrdmchl ! Just pm me your paypals and if this works i will gladly pay you for this help

Hey Its all good man. Just let me know when you get it all worked out.

Just make sure to get those stand offs installed. When you first start building PCs theres a little bit of a learning curve. My first build was in college and I had the benifit of a professer looking over my shoulder to make sure I did things correctly. Make sure you resarch all your hardware and make sure they play well together. Install everything correclty and you will be fine. Dont be afraid to ask questions and dont be to hard on yourself just consider it a life lesson 😉

Good luck!

Thanks for the support man. I un-screwed the case and the standoffs were already there... So i dont think this this is the cause of my issue here. Any other ideas that i could try though ?

Just inserted my old graphics card ati radeon 4650 HD in the case and i dont have any more of those horizontal lines and i still have that random tears if i have vsync off but when i turn it on it completely goes away.

Yeah i will probably do that. The thing is when i will get new 970 the lines will be gone but what if the chopping will still be there... ?

Im also sending back motherboard and i hope i will get a new one or a refund because before i had 55 ping with the old motherboard in league of legends now its always around 100-250 ping because of that killer network driver that is suppose to boost my ping to rly low % but in fact it boosted the lag...

I just fixed the problem thanks to you bignastyid. Now i tried HDMI cable but my monitor doesnt support HDMI input so i needed to go plug it in the TV. I first tried DVI-I and VGA cable that i normally use the screen and the video was really bad i experianced the same thing as previously mentioned. But when i plugged in HDMI cable the sound was different the video completely changed the video was more pretty and high quality then before and also all the bugs that i have gotten before were gone. It wasnt the problem in graphics card after all im so stupid. Thank you so much to everyone who has been helping me fix this problem. And bignastyid i will pick you as the solution and please send me you paypal... THANKS EVERYONE and have a great day.

Alright man xD going to get another PSU tomorrow which one do your recommend according to my components.
