Hello!

Current specs:

Intel Core i7 5960x
Gigabyte X99-UD4-CF Motherboard
DDR4 Ram 32gb (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00N1OZJOE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )
1080TI Graphics Card.

My question is!

I want to improve 3D performance for rendering/3D Work.
I believe my motherboard supports 8 ram slots? im currently using 4 x 8gb
(link): https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00N1OZJOE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So do i re-buy the 4 x 8gb again and fill in the other slots?

Or do i need to upgrade to different ram?

Thanks!

P.S Any other suggestions to improve performance?

The guiding document is the motherboard's User Manual:

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-x99-ud4_e.pdf

Verify that the linked manual is correct for your motherboard.

Section 1-2 (Product Specifications) lists the memory specifications.

Physically numbered Pages 16 and 17 detail RAM installation.

Details matter. E.g., Note 1 at the bottom of Page 16.

More /larger SSD's beyond the single 120 GB SSD may help with improving performance.

But change only one thing at a time.

Get the memory worked out. Test and work for awhile, then address storage.

Thank you, Do you reccommend me to buy 4 more 8gbs of the same ram I have now?

Also any reccomendations for the SSDs? Ill only go and make another post about SSD's so be great if you can suggest.

What program are you using for 3D work? Does it show that it's maxing out the RAM you have now?

Im using Maya/Vray/Substance, I seem to get crashes when its computing something or taking a long time to figure something out, it freezes and then the program crashes.

Just did a quick render of a image and its sitting at around 50% CPU and 58% Memory,

But then all of a sudden it could spike like the below, (Even though im using CUDA to render) But i think this is an anomaly as it didn't crash.

So basically should i get 32gb more to make it 64gb? and do i need to use the exact same RAM i have now for the other 4 slots?

That shows me CPU usage, not RAM usage. If RAM usage stays at half of what you have now, more RAM won't help. Based on what you have shown though, this could be a case of your CPU overheating.
Cpu is sitting at 40% on a render that seemed to be just a small spike for 2 seconds. Memory hits 70% So no more ram will improve overall performance? Maybe a ssd?

And take a look at what is going on via Resource Monitor.

Per @Ketchup79 if all available RAM is not being used then more RAM will not help.

Pay close attention to what the CPU is doing.

Perhaps some other background app is making attempts to do something: backup, update, just "phone home" even.

And, looking back - What PSU is installed and supporting the build: make, model, wattage, age, condition?

Look ahead a bit. With the current build you may create more problems with any additional components.

Add up the wattage requirements for each installed component. If wattage range is given use the high end value.

Once all are totaled, add 25%. How close is the final total to 650? Then consider that the XFX PSU may be nearing EOL (End of Life) and otherwise become problematic.

I realize that I am not addressing the RAM/memory question per se. However, the PSU is very much key to and central to a computer's performance. The PSU must be able to keep up with the power demands.
