Question **UPDATE** Problems updating BIOS - P67A-GD80

It was previously running an i5 2500k. I purchased an i7 3770. When I installed the i7, the system would start, run a few seconds, then stop and repeat.
I was told I needed a newer BIOS to flash.
I went to the MSI website, found the BIOS file to flash.
I followed the directions. First, I unzipped the downloaded to my desktop, then copied that to my USB drive. That didn't work so I copied the one file in that folder to my thumb drive.
That didn't work either.
My thumb drive was freshly formatted (full, not quick format) and had only the one file in it.
Can anyone help? I had the MSI tech stumped, although he thought my BIOS screen was cool, old but cool.

What is format on the thumb drive? Should be Fat32.
If you can't use Bios Flash from rear IO then try to update via the Bios.

MeanMachine41 means a USB connector in the rear input/output panel in which you connect your USB key (any USB connector)

I may be missing something. I finished the section from the link you posted and I didn't see any specifics regarding flashing the bios?
In regards to your first question, I did follow those instructions although the BIOS screen they're using is completely different than mine.

Online w/MSI tech again. He informed me that I had to boot into windows, put in the thumb drive, and run the program on the thumb drive. Did that, PC restarted on its own, and now I have a flashing cursor in my upper rich corner of my screen.
I guess it's fried.
Can anyone suggest a good quality 1155 motherboard? I don't want to buy all new components as the PC doesn't get much use.
