updating award bios

my friend's mobo, the bios is AWARD. the type of the mobo: J-867AS-H (it still Jetway). i was trying to update it with flashing software and bios rom (downloaded from owner's site). in the operation, the flashing bios program was ask the name of the backup BIOS. my question is: are we can repair the bios, if the bios has a bad flashing? becoz in AWARD bios was take-a-survey like ask for the name of backup BIOS. plz answer! becoz i never updating BIOS Award. My computer's BIOS is AMI.

I would assume that the backup filename it's asking for is a filename to save the existing BIOS (as a backup)..

But more importantly, why are you wanting to flash the BIOS anyway? Does he have a specific problem? It can cause nasty problems if it goes wrong, and is best avoided unless you need to do it.
