I am looking to upgrade my CPU from a Ryzen 5 1600 to a Ryzen 5 3600. I know both of these are supported by my motherboard which is a Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-CF.

Info for this from: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-rev-1x/support#support-cpu

From the same source, I know the Ryzen 5 3600 Requires BIOS version F40, while my current BIOS is version F4. This is my first time attempting to upgrade a CPU and updating a BIOS, and doing research this seemed to be a more involved process than I expected, and am looking for any guidance.

Going to the BIOS page for my mother board: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-rev-1x/support#support-dl-bios

Version F40 states the following:
  1. If you are using Q-Flash Utility to update BIOS, make sure you have updated BIOS to F31 before F40.
  2. Before update BIOS to F40, you have to install EC FW Update Tool (B19.0517.1 or later version) to avoid 4DIMM DDR compatibility on 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ CPU.
So my thought on the update process would be:
  1. Update BIOS from F4 (my current version) to F31.
  2. Run the EC FW Update Tool - Download found here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-rev-1x/support#support-dl-utility
  3. Update BIOS from F31 to F40.
Are there any other steps I am missing, tips, or issues I should be aware of ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For me, Flash F31, install the latest amd chipset driver from amd website, then install EC Update tool, do F40, then update directly to F51d.
