Updating my BIOS

Hey

I bought an HP Pavilion 500-326na (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04341331&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=7233280#N92) which has an AMD A78 FCH chipset made by MSI.

Is it possible for me to update the BIOS with something from the MSI website even though it's an OEM motherboard? The HP UEFI is pretty useless.

You should be able to update the MB BIOS through MSI Live Update 6

Thanks. Is there any danger of writing off my motherboard if the update goes wrong? It's happened for me with firmware before.

I'm not 100% positive if the program allows updates/firmware to be uninstalled/backlogged. I would manually do a backup before each install just to play it safe. There will be updates that you will probably not need so just be sure to read the description of each update before downloading them or if theres no description maybe passing on it.

Hello there, I know this thread is 2.5 y/o but I'd like to ask the OP if he managed to update his BIOS with MSI BIOS successfully. I want to do the same.
