Hi all, I'm new in the forum. I just buy a FX-8350 for my Crosshair IV and...yes it's works (BIOS 3027) but pretty bad. I spend more than 2 hours to achieve a 3,8Ghz (underclocking!).

Now I need some advice; I have 2 options :
A. Stick with my 1055t and send back FX-8350.
B. Buy a 990fx motherboard maybe Crosshair V? and sell my CrossHair IV+1055t.

Thanks! Sorry for my English (I'm spaniard).

I have an Asetek 570Lx Longboy ( 240x120 LC isolated) with 4xCM Excalibur, I think my cooling system is enough to get by :).

color me stunned then. i've never heard of an fx unable to clock up past it's stock turbo speed. Are you getting temp issues? what's the problem with overclocking?

people sometimes run into these problems when they have a bad stick of ram, or perhaps a bad psu... i assume you're not having temp issues.

Well, the main problem is that Crosshair IV only support "Vishera" unofficially, and Cool'n'Quite or Turbo Core seems to be disabled, and the overclock is so limited too (in addition the cpu volt is always in 1,40v)

ah... yeah.. i wasn't thinking. you put a AM3+ chip into an AM3 motherboard. You'll have those problems because AM3+ was designed to pump more power into the chip. in short AM3 will be unable to provide the voltage needed. Shame. Well the choice is yours, but the best overclocking motherboards in the 990fx chipset are GA-990FXA-UD3/UD5/UD7 mbs... and Asus Sabretooth or M5A99X Evo/Pro boards.

Thank you, and finally, do you think it's worth it?

well, if you aren't going to use the fx and were to give it to me i'd tell you anything i needed to to get you to not use it :D

that said, i think you'll notice a bump in performance, particularly as you overclock it a bit. You have a very robust cooling system, and should get a bit out of that chip.
