[SOLVED] Upgrade an Acer Aspire 7741

Hello ladies, hello guys,
I need an advice concerning my laptop. It's hard to find a solution because I am low in budget. I need to have my personal computer able to run everything concerning my job: software engineering. For instance IntelliJ, maven builds, at least two VMs with application servers running a big webapp, an Oracle DB instance, etc. 17 inches for the screen is a minimum.
I am wondering if I should upgrade my Acer Aspire 7741 or buy a new laptop. My current laptop is 10 years old and overheating sometimes (impossible to clean the MoBo. It is not designed for). But buying a new laptop is so expensive...
I've got the MoBo JE70_CP V1.26. Apparently it supports core i7 processors. It also supports 4 * 4 Go DDR3, so 16 Go of RAM. (Currently I've got 2*2 Go RAM and a core i3-330M).
So the upgrade cost should be around 500$... That's so much. Could it be less expensive? Could I be good with a less powerful configuration?
Also, I've got an HDD. I am not sure it would be relevant for my tasks to buy an SSD.

the AMD 4800/4900 coming soon (June? July?) ight be perfect with 8 cores/16 threads and lots of power for virtualization)
