Motherboard died because of upgrade is this true? My technician aid my lga 1155 motherboard couldnt handle it anymore here are the specs before

I3 3220
Gt730
4gb ram

Specs now
I5 3470
12g ram
Gtx 960

Is this possibly true because of the age(its around 4-5 years now)

Solution
The age of the motherboard probably had more to do with it's death than anything else. A power surge or a static discharge could kill the motherboard on day 47.

Who knows what causes it. But electronic components degrade with use and time. For example, capacitors bullge and fail with use.

Solution
I have one system that is nearing seven years old. It has been overclocked since day one. It is still running strong (knock on wood).

But it also depends upon the brand, type, and selection of motherboard. And it depends upon the degree that the CPU and RAM was overclocked too.

You should know if the old motherboard would boot up or not. A $100 for a LGA 1155 motherboard is reasonable.

But if you like you can do it yourself and choose your own motherboard. And you would save the labor charges.
