Question Upgrade choice for 2700x

Just chasing some suggestions on upgrades from the 2700x, I have a crosshair vii hero board with gskill 3200mhz ram and an aorus waterforce 3080. Not sure whether it's worth it to upgrade to the new ryzen chips just yet, considering the fact that I'll have to upgrade mobo and ram. Also considering Intel as I've never done an Intel build but again, mobo needs to be changed obv. I've been looking at the 5800x or x3d, but I don't know if it's worth buying am4 just before a bunch of new gear comes out
I generally play a lot of AAA titles, on a 1440p 144hz monitor but will probably go 4k at some point
Apologies for the roundabout uncertainty, I've been a little out of the loop on specs for a while, appreciate any help, cheers!

It isn't as if the 2700X isn't a capable and still relevant CPU. At 2K much of the load is put on the GPU. Could you gain frames changing upward on the CPU? Yes. But put simply if the upgrade is outside your current scheme it isn't like you aren't still capable of above average performance or hurting for it.

I think a 5600 will set you back about 150 so you could always pick one up and sell the 2700x and then bide your time.

I’m considering the same thing to look at going into 13th gen and carry over my 32gb ddr4. I figure my 5900x will fetch a decent amount so a few months may be a good time to sell. Will see what happens though.

The good aspect of trying to sell a used 2700X is that it makes systems compatible with W11.

The bad aspect of trying to sell a used 2700X is that they went for $100 at the EOL with many retailers. In spite of its pricing now, people like to keep that in mind while offering $50 for it. (got the T shirt)

to avoid the expense of a new platform something from the 5000 series would be a big upgrade and allow you a few more years to watch ddr5 prices drop and still know you got a top notch system now.

a 5600x is ample but if you got the budget you can get more obviously. i went with a 5900x due to the extra cores and once the price dropped to $375 on sale i went for it. and i had a 3600x to start with. a 2700x to a 5700/5800x would be a pretty noticable jump for you :)
