upgrade cpu, complete new build, or wait?

I play GW2, Skyrim, and run Plex as a 24/7 video server. I built this pc back in January ’14 and it hasn’t been off for more than a week total during all that time.

Should I:

upgrade i5-3350p to i7-3770k (increasing the ram as well)
OR
build i7-6700k pc (much improvement?)
OR
wait for a greater difference in performance?

Well if you are streaming, you want to use an i7. If you can afford it, grab the 6700K and just start fresh. If not, then get the 3770k, which is still revelant today. The thing with the 6700K, you will need to get a new motherboard AND DDR4 RAM AND possbily reinstall Windows because of a major hardware change (but with teh 1607 build, you can bypass that).

So really, it depends on budget at the end of the day.

In my opinion, that hardware is good enough for another year or two. More if you upgrade the RAM.

Thanks, Admantine. I'll probably keep that itx build around for a while and see if I can put it to work for something else but I did go ahead and build an i7-7700k system. Plex loads sooo much faster and GW2 is on ultra settings with no dips below 60fps. Loving it!
