Hi all,
MH Wilds is dropping in the next few days and after aching over the benchmark and getting subpar framerates I've considered its time to get some parts together for my 6 year old rig. It was upper mid range at the time and its served me well but its not quite reaching the mark on some modern titles.
I play at 1080p with a gsync monitor and I'm happy with medium visuals with 80ish+ FPS (FPS is more important but I dont want to be playing games that look like roblox). Wilds unfortunately sits at sub 50 being CPU bound so I think it's time to get some new parts. The best chip for my platform afaik (z370) is the 9900k which I can find used online for between £180 - 230.
Now for my question. Based on this setup:
GTX 1080
8600k
DDR4 RAM 3200
m.2 SSD
z370 board
550w supply
1080p 240hz Gsync monitor (do run dual monitor but second monitor is used for other apps like discord etc)
Would you suggest an upgrade to 9900k or a new platform of CPU and MOBO. It would be nice just to spend £180 or less and play a game that I've been looking forward to at 60+ fps on medium settings but if a new platform offers say 20 - 50% performance over the 9900 without bottlenecking the GPU and its only a couple £100 more than the 9900 upgrade, then I will certainly consider pushing the budget.
Cheers
