Upgrade for motherboard ASRock H77M LGA 1155

guys im looking for this motherboard as an upgrade to my brother's old board which is the ECS H61H2-M2 he has a Intel core I3 2100 (3.1ghz)
he will not be overclocking, maybe an sli or crossfire in the future, whats important is an USB 3.0, SATA 6Gb/s and PCI Express 3.0 x16 and this what i found which for me is bang for the buck

other that im looking for which im quite interested it has a military class III is the

which of this guys are great board for my preferences?

That would be the most cost effective solution, yes. If there's nothing wrong with the board, and no features it's lacking, why change? The HD 6870/7770 will be a great card for his current resolution and even be an OK card for 1080p. Remember, as long as you have an adequate processor, frame rate is all about the graphics card. The HD 7850 you mention, of course, will be even better.

Btw, did we ever determine the wattage/make of his PSU?
Normally, I prefer Asrock over MSI. I have used several of each manufacturer. But if adding a 2nd card is in his future, stay away from the x16, x4 PCIe slots. The x4 slot will degrade the performance of mid and high end cards. Look for x16, x16 or x16, x8 or x8, x8 PCIe slots.
 
It's a choice I'd suggest you make on the design of each board. The two boards are both good boards. The MSI does have 4 memory slots as opposed to the Asrock's 2. And, the Asrock will only leave you with a single legacy PCI slot and a PCIe x4 slot if you use a 2-bay wide graphics card. The MSI leaves you with a PCIe x1 slot and PCIe x4 slot for expansion after adding a wide card. The Asrock may have a better power phase design do to its 8-pin CPU power connector. But the MSI has heat syncs for the VRs.

The MSI looks like it has one extra system fan header than the Asrock. You can plug in a front and rear fan directly to the board and monitor the speeds... if that's important to you. They both have solid capacitors. I didn't notice any reference to Military Class III, whatever that is suppose to be.

Is there any particular feature or component you are interested in that is important to you?
 
wow thats very detailed elaboration of the two boards, thanks man, ill keep that in mind.. actually its my brothers desktop, he is just asking me for advice because im member in this prestige forum the tomshardware.com and a lot of experts like you is just waiting to help noobs like us.. he just want to have a USB 3.0, SATA 6Gb/s and PCI Express 3.0 x16 which his current board limits this, but he is not planning a SSD because it is so expensive, he is cheap by the way lol, but he will be buying a GPU soon like a ASUS HD7850-DC2-2GD5 Radeon HD 7850 2GB retail at newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121623 so thats the feature he is looking for, PCI Express 3.0 x1 will it make a difference?

As far as I know, Sandy Bridge processors do not support PCIe 3.0. Ivy Bridge Processors are required for PCIe 3.0. The throughput of 3.0 is much faster, but whether or not the card can saturate the bandwidth of even 2.0 is questionable. I'll leave that for someone with more knowledge on the subject. The frame rates you can achieve in games depends greatly on what resolution you game at; what the native resolution of your monitor is. A card that performs well at 1680x1050 for instance, might struggle at 1920x1080. The more pixels/texels to display... the more work the card must do to produce each frame.
 
but still thanks man you've been great on helping me sorting this out.. okay so as far as i understand the pcie 2.0 with this board is still great because he has a sandy bridge proc?.. right now he is using a native resolution of 1336 x 768 resolution but planning to upgrade to a full hd monitor after buying a power GPU like a LG IPS231B-BN Black 23" 1920 x 1080 retail at newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005240..
 
The HD 6850 will offer good 1920x1080 performance in most games. But, it will be a beast at 1366x768. You should be able to max out all settings at that rez.
And I'm sure the PCIe 2.0 interface still provides more bandwidth capability than the HD 6850 can make use of. You should be in very good shape.
LG seems to be a good brand from what experience I've had with their products. Another good brand for monitors in that price range is Asus.
 
thanks for the comparison man adn hd 7770 is much cheaper than hd 6850 and uses less watts.. the bus of the hd 7770 says PCIe 3.0 x16? this means that it works great on a PCIe 3.0 x16 board?
 
hehehe its okay man.. ahhhmm all the advices you give, ill just decide that its no need for him to upgrade his motherboard, let him just stick to the ECS H61H2-M2 that he has right no? right?... ill just let him buy a new monitor the full hd, and a great video card..

yes no problem with his board it runs great with Intel Core i3-2100, he just intrigue with the 6gb sata, usb 3.0 and pcie 3.0 which the board don't support.. his psu is a FSP Group Everest 85PLUS 600W ATX retail at newegg - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104083, is this a great psu?
 
i think its a good psu, not great but good enough i guess its 85% efficient.. so thats it? no need for upgrade for the board and a great video card for the full hd monitor, i think im going with the hd 7850 its a newer architecture and less power consumption and slight cheaper..
