Upgrade from 8150 to 8350

It doesn't look like it. According to HP's website these are your options for upgrades.

Socket type: AM3-b

TDP: up to 125W

Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:

Processor

TDP

FX-4100 (Zambezi)

95W

FX-6100 (Zambezi)

95W

FX-8100 (Zambezi)

95W

FX-8120 (Zambezi)

95W or 125W

FX-8150 (Zambezi)

125W

Yes the socket is AM3+ so physically the CPU will fit in the socket but that is only one part of it. The CPU has to also be supported by the BIOS. According to that list Piledriver is not supported on that motherboards BIOS. I would call HP's customer support and ask them. If it does support Piledriver be sure to ask if you need to update the BIOS.

@rds1220 thanks I will give them a call.
@iceclock My cpu is not the best, I lag all the time in games especially the ones that are CPU intensive such as ARMA II. I have a GTX 660ti and it handles it fine its my cpu. If im doing something wrong please tell me

Did u do the windows hotfixes for the fx line?

I mean ARMA II should not be stressing the 8150, but its prob only optimized for a dual core so the single threaded performance may be whats hindering ur performance, i bet in a more cpu intense game u wouldnt see so much lag

If u want to upgrade get a cheap 970 board and a new case, i mean u alrdy upgraded the gpu and assuming the psu as well, and basically any non prebuilt motherboard is better than what u got

Hot fixes? And even if i got a new mobo and case the HP *** ships with an OEM version of windows, which would not work with the new mobo. HP just screws you over in every way....

It should work as long as u can get the product key, which they make programs for, and an install disc. I've taken product keys for win7 from laptops and they worked just fine, with a different desktop motherboard

Hotfixes are fixes to the OS (Win7) to more efficently utilize FX series modules

It's not just HP it's pretty much all OEM's. This is an enthuist website and thats why most here avoid OEMs like a plauge.

I wish i would have know about oems and all this garbage before I bought this hunk of ***. So I would just have to get my key for windows, get a new mobo, case and processor and it would work?

If you want to really do what you want to do than yes. At that point though you are practically doing a new build. How old is the HP, can you return it and get your money back? If not I would sell it and start over again since as I said the major parts you want to replace is practically a new computer anyway.

sell the 8150 on craigslist once u get a 8350, new motherboard a 780g would work, but would go for a asus or gigabyte 970 for $95-100, and a case of ur choice, and reuse ur ram, psu, gpu done deal.

Google Win7 product key finder or something like that, find a free one that seems good, dont remember which ones are good, but ive used one b4 that worked great that was free

Has a good point, could start fresh, go intel or still go amd, rlly similar priced boards and the 8350 being only $30 less than a 3570k.

But guessing since u replaced the stock 7570 with a 660 ti, and summing the 300watt psu with something to handle the 660ti, u either dont have the old psu and gpu or cant return the pc, but as rds said ud be getting a new motherboard and cpu so could still go intel or get the 8350

Also i wouldnt look at a 8150 with a 660 ti as a bad pc, id say the motherboard is as its hp but if u could overclock which u cant lol ud prob see better performance in games like ARMA II or games that like less cores

I still have the old gpu and psu, I bought a 3770k processor but toook it back since I couldnt use it and make my decision b4 I bought anything. The hp I bought fall 2012 im not sure what the max return time is tho

But what im thinking is that HP is just a bunch of lying money loving bitches.
This model is a "higher end" hp model than mine: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=ca&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03528369 Same mobo same everything yet has a fx8350......wtf Im thinking they are doing what they did with my gpu and said I cant upgrade it but i tried and it worked fine. here is my model again http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03359124&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5231374 imma go out and buy a 8350 and see what happens if it dont work ill just return like i did my 3770k

Could throw the old psu, and gpu back in and sell ebay or craigslist, and start with the psu and gpu u have and go from their, or salvage the hp for its ram and hdd and os, and sell the mobo, and 8150, 7570, and psu but would most likely only able to sell the cpu by itself

Well guys I am going to follow up on this thread. I finally got in to the city and in to memory express to buy a 8350. I put the processor in and started the comp. Works like a f*cking charm. HP completely lied or mabye they just havent updated. Thanks for your help
