Hey everyone, so before a stone asks her are my specs:

I5 6600K
MSI Z170A PC MATE
Corsair vengeance 2666mhz 16gb
MSI GTX 970 gaming 4gb
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2
1tb hard drive

So I have the GTX 970 as you can see. I'm looking to sell it at $190 which has already drawn in some offers. I also sold another old PC part, so If I sell my 970 I will have enough money to buy a new GTX 1060. Do you guys think this is worth doing? It really isn't costing me anything out of pocket, more like a swap. My current 970 was purchased used on Craigslist and I just would like a factory new card if I can. Would saving my money for something like a 1070 be a better idea? I only play games like GTA V, Battlefied, assassins creed and CS GO. like I said. This would be a zero money out of pocket deal. Would you do it?

dibSilverBack,

wait a sec... your wasting money on a video card for games that you can run on your PS4/Xbox One, which cost less and will be less headaches in the long run?

lol.. putting jokes aside..

Play it safe....
1. know the standard spec for 1060 (Don't cheat yourself)
2. know the standard price for 1060 (I seen some 1060 price as high as a 1070)
3. know your motherboard spec (make sure it support the card)
4. Don't let all those fancy fans/cooling devices fool you
5. Get meanest and baddest 1060 you can get (Don't cheat yourself)

Ok NextGear, I think the only advice I got was, get the meanest/badest 1060 I can? The 1060s I'm looking at frys are around $250-$280. In particular the Gigabyte Windforce OC 1060, it's the best priced for base/boost speeds that's I've found.

Scuzzycard, thanks for the simply advise. That's more of the answer I needed.

Yeah I noticed that the only real difference between G1 and Windforce OC was very small speed difference, like 40mhz, and the led lighting which I don't care for. So I think I'll go with the Windforce OC 1060 6gb card.

Make sure you stay within your budget and make sure you have alternative 1060, in case your 1st choice is "SOLD OUT". All 1060 aftermarket cards, the difference will be in the speed (overclock).
