Question Upgrade from Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Adapter

The ASUS X540SA-XX345T Notebook arrived with no 5.0 GHz WiFi capability. It has a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11bgn WiFi adapter that has a WiFi 2.4 GHz at up to 70Mbps max capability, when Notebook is placed next to my 2,000 Mbps WiFi Hub. I have installed a second WiFi antenna and now looking to install a new WiFi card that has a 5.0 GHz WiFi capability. Have asked ASUS Technical Support for assistance but they are not helping. Would ASUS X540SA users be willing to recommend the current most capable 2.4 GHz + 5.0 GHz wireless adapter that can be installed? Thank you in anticipation.

The Genuine Asus X540SA Wireless WiFi WLAN Card AW-NE186H(B9) is 802.11n capable but only on a 2.4 GHz band. Belarc Advisor says it is a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter.

You could take a look at the Intel® Wireless-AC 7260HMW but you should first make sure you're on the latest BIOS update for the laptop prior to dropping in the WiFi card.

Hi @Lutfij the Intel Wireless-AC 7260HMW is an old, but good dual band 802.11ac wireless adapter upgrade that as of October 2016 has been Discontinued. Hopefully the ASUS X540SA-XX345T Notebook will recognise the Bluetooth adapter on this card. Thank you.
