Hey. I have been running an i5-4590 now for a while and have wanted to upgrade for a while but it's just been to pricey to buy a new CPU, motherboard and RAM. However now I found what I believe to be a pretty good deal on an i7-7700 with a motherboard and 16GB RAM for 2500 swedish krona which is about 245€. I do play some more CPU intensive games like Squad and DayZ and guess I would be getting better performance. I feel like benchmarks on youtube are irregular and some show a good performance increase and some videos don't. Is it worth? My GPU is a 1070

but done is done, atleast I will get a performance boost plus DDR4

You will definitely get a performance boost over that i5 4590. Don't feel too bad about the price you had paid because 4790k processors are still very popular, and they demand a high premium. Deals can be had, but most are sold for an outrageous amount of money. Not that long ago I made a deal to buy a 4790k locally for $100. When I arrived to pick it up, the seller refused to sell for the agreed upon price citing offers over $150. Thankfully it was not a long drive from my house so I advised the seller to accept the highest offer, and I am sure he had no problem selling it for that much.

I hope you enjoy your new-to-you hardware!
For that price, I'd jump on it in a heart beat. Hyperthreads will excel in your games, that is certain, and you'll be able to play more intensive games as well where a quad would be struggling.

If all goes well and parts are in good condition, you'll have a decent enough bump in performance to last you a good while. When DDR 5 platforms come to be in two years or so, then maybe ponder the idea of more significant overhaul.

i7 7700 is comparable in performance to i7 4790. If we step up to an overclocked 4790k, it will outperform 7700. Are you on a Z97 motherboard? If so, you could look for a deal on a 4790k. Otherwise, $250 for that hardware is poor value, and I would not do it when you can buy a B450 motherboard, a budget Ryzen CPU and RAM for not much more than $300.

I did end up going for it. It's hard comparing CPUs and different benchmark videos on youtube seems like they show different results and it can be a bit confusing. However, I may have paid a bit more than I should if I could've just gotten a 4790k but done is done, atleast I will get a performance boost plus DDR4. A question is, what is the appeal to buy new gear when it comes out if the performance gain is barely noticable. Like why would anyone want to buy the i7 6600 ori7 7700 if the 4790 is pretty much just as good?

I sure will! In a few years I hope to for the first time in my life buy hardware that actually is new haha!
