Currently have:
CPU: i5-4690k overclocked to 4.4
MB: ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Mark2
GPU: ASUS GTX 1070
CPU cooler: Cryorig R1 Ultimate
RAM: 16gb 1600 Corsair Vengeance LP
Monitor: MSI 27" MAG Series Optix MAG27C 144Hz
PSU: Seasonic Focus Plus 80+ Platinum
Case: Phantek Enthoo Pro M tempered glass

Basically just looking for opinions of 4 options:
Option 1: Keep what i have and stop over thinking things
Option 2: Toss in a 4790k for a bit more oomph
Option 3: save up for a 8700k, new mobo and ram
Option 4: save up for a Ryzen switch

I dont stream or do video editing of any kind. Just internet and gaming. Games range all over the place from Planet Coaster to PUBG to BF 4 and 5 to...well anything really.

Thanks for the opinions

I just made the jump from an i5-4690k to an i7-4790k. On a Gigabyte MB running their EasyTune software it...

well in terms of falling short im really not sure. my fps is all over the place depending on the game im playing. Something like American Trucker Simulator is a constant 144fps, BF4 on all Ultra is around 120fps. then PUBG is around 55fps to 80fps.

I guess my only concern is that I know the 1150 is considered old now and wasnt sure if i should be upgrading simply due to the age or not. Would the jump to a 4790k make enough difference to be noticable?

I'm not sure.. From what I understand, though, PUBG is poorly optimized. I don't think I'd go for updating just yet based on the single game.

I mean, if you can find a 4790k cheap enough, yeah, it couldn't hurt, but I wouldn't spend serious money on it given how well most of your games seem to perform.

Just finished playing Battlefield 4 for about 2 hours. Had MSI Afterburner running in the background to check for bottlenecks. CPU and GPU usage were both at 90-100%. GPU temp hit 68 and CPU temp was 49. Is it good that both were at around 100% usage?

I just made the jump from an i5-4690k to an i7-4790k. On a Gigabyte MB running their EasyTune software it runs at 4.8 GHz on 1.25v. Runs amazingly with a GTX1060 6GB: Heaven benchmark on ultra well over 100 fps. Just picked up a 4690k on Ebay for $217. For my purposes choosing Option 3 or 4 seems like it would be a waste of money for no appreciable improvement.
