Hi everyone,

Last time I built a dedicated gaming pc with money not being an issue was in 2011.
I have...

Asus P8P67 Motherboard
Intel Core i7 2600K Sandy Bridge @ 3.4 (overclocked to a comfortable 4ghz with aftermarket cooler).
Upgraded from a GTX 580 to a GTX 1070
16GB RAM
SSD
XFI Sound card

I'm not looking to build a new gaming pc soon partly because of money but because I believe I still have a pretty decent setup.
My question: Is there a cheap Mobo+Processor Combo that I can buy for maybe less than $300 that can give me a boost in the meantime? I don't plan on making a new pc from scratch for maybe another 2 years.

I've been out of the loop. I saw a Ryzen 5 with mobo for $140 at newegg. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Nothing wrong with the GPU, so all you need is motherboard/processor/ram.

I wouldn't swap out your i7 for anything less than a Ryzen 5, and you might want to hold out for the Ryzen 3000 launch. Either pick one of those up or wait for Ryzen 2000 prices to drop.

Only other budget option would be to track down a used i7-4790k and Z97 motherboard. That way you can keep your ram and still get a decent increase in performance. (4.4Ghz out of the box)
